Couple challenges constitutionality of Michigan's same-sex marriage ban
The hearing was brought about by April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse of Hazel Park, Mich., who are seeking adoption of their three special needs foster children. Due to state constitutional amendments, they cannot be recognized as a married couple and are, therefore, currently prohibited from gaining custody.
